ABOUT US
With over 50 years in the chemical and plastics business, we felt we had the technical expertise to provide a brand new product like FUBAR GLUE after taking a step back and looking at what people seem to want most.
3d printer enthusiasts have lots of things to learn and many issues to solve before becoming successful with their art. How their machine works, what filament to use, how to create the file for it, and other are all items they need to master before creating a good quality print. Inevitably they figure out there’s one more thing they have to deal with: plastic shrinkage. All filaments will shrink, to some degree, depending on:
- Their machine
- Operating Conditions
- Room Conditions
- Type of Filament (Material)
- Filament Characteristics (Physical Technical Specs)
- Filament Storage and Handling
- Filament Moisture Content
as well as other minor concerns. To a great extent all the above can be dealt with in one way shape or form. But shrinkage, that’s a little tougher.
We have the same issues with our prints and that’s why we developed Fubar Glue. Our fancy acronym for FUBAR is: Fix Up By Adhering the Raft. Pretty good huh?! Anyway we thought it was… For those new to 3d printing, a raft can be described as a latticework of filament, printed on the build bed as a structure underneath your print. It is larger than your 3d print will be, to help spread the load of the print making it stronger, as well as “absorb” some of the forces of shrinkage. By creating this structure on top of a prepared surface you will minimize or eliminate the consequences of warping.
You see, we use a lot of Nylon 12 Filament. It has great characteristics: tough, durable, abrasion resistant, flexible, high impact, and many others. But those people that have used Nylon 12 Filament, other nylons or materials, know that it does shrink a lot. This leads to your 3d print lifting and warping off the printer build bed table.
FUBAR GLUE was specifically formulated to meet that need. Our friends at www.rdmfilament.com manufacture and sell Nylon 12 filament. We came up with this formulation especially to use with that Nylon 12 Filament for them. It’s been tested by us and many of the printer enthusiasts at FUBARLABS.org as well as other willing testers. It works great with the Nylon 12 Filament, other nylon filaments and most of the other filaments commonly used for 3d printing today.
Although we started with our vision in NJ we now have a second location in NC.
